The Bump That Got Me Back On Track

Y’all know what I’m saying.

You have an idea and it’s a humdinger of an idea but for some reason you don’t carry it out.

There isn’t really any specific reason why….you just don’t.

Your car is stuck just barely to the side of the lane, in the deeper snow where you can’t get any traction.

And then!

BUMP!

You’re off and running!

I’d seen this particular brand and color of spray paint at Walmart before while looking for some paint for other projects.

It had grabbed my eye and I’d even picked up a bottle and looked it over a time or two.

But I hadn’t taken the plunge and bought any yet. There was just something about the color on the bottle cap (I’m not the person responsible for spraying little samples of paint all over the shelves at these stores) that I wasn’t completely sure of.

I mean, part of it grabbed my eye and I liked that it was a matte finish but part of me thought it would look like a big blog of Army Green camouflage. I put it back on the shelf each time.

BUMP!

As is often the case, Emily’s creative juices were flowing more than mine and she took the plunge and bought the paint and made some Anthropologie inspired ornaments and I loved the color!

And I went and bought some for a rainy day when I had a project that needed to be this fabulous green.

Now circle around to today (like literally this morning) when I was surveying my kingdom (which actually looked a lot like my living room) and I decided that I needed something different for my coffee table.

My sofa was looking so fine, thanks to it’s new SureFit slipcover, my little side tables and my Christmas tree were trimmed and sparkly but my coffee table was sad.

Like ready for meds, can’t get out of bed in the morning, eating gallons of ice cream every day kind of sad.

I know, right?

So I had me a little moment to consider what I could do about it and I decided to take out the trash. When I went to get a new trash bag I spied the lovely wooden trough that I store in my pantry closet when I’m not using it and inspiration struck!

A short time later it was close to being good but close only counts in horseshoes, or so my grandpa always taught me.

THE PAINT!!!!

Within moments I had some random thrift store ornaments (that had been sitting around looking for their purpose in life for a while now) strung up on twine between two ladders and I was off to the races!

A couple quick coats of this fabulous Spanish Moss color and I knew they’d be the perfect finishing touch.

Of course very few things are actually finished in my home without the addition of some gold, some glitter or some bling of some sort so out came the Rub ‘n’ Buff (thanks for the incredible idea, Emily) and I highlighted the designs on the ornaments using a small artists brush.

Wow! The difference a little paint and gold bling can make!

Now just a dash here and a dash there and my coffee table was the belle of the ball! At least in my opinion.

I have so much of this amazing green paint left that I can only imagine all the things that will be cropping up in this shade in the near future!

I’d say my living room is now all ready for Christmas.

I like how the soft green looks, amidst some greenery. Such a subtle tone on tone.

And there’s nothing better than a bit of gold catching the light.

I think you ought to probably head over to your nearest paint store and buy some of this too!

If you live near me there might not be any left!

See you next time…

Pin for later…

You are so sweet and I really appreciate it. I can’t take much of the credit seeing that my best friend Emily had already done some ornaments in that color and I just loved them. I will definitely be using that color on other things too though. It’s so elegant!
