French Vintage Friday – Recipe Books

I don’t know if you know this or not but I sort of have a thing for vintage recipe books.

Perhaps you suspected something along those lines when you saw how I framed and old recipe I found along with some other recipe book pages!

I’ve displayed vintage recipe books on my open shelves before too. This isn’t a new obsession.

In spite of this fact I always keep my eyes open for more recipe books when I’m out thrifting. Not only do I love to imagine the countless hours people have poured over their pages planning all sorts of special meals, but I love the recipes in them too. There’s just something about them that current recipe books can’t compare to.

Maybe it’s just me but…..

On that note I had to share some “new” ones I just found a week or so ago. They are both copyrighted from the 1950’s and have seen a lot of use.

One look at the photos inside a recipe book (if it has photos) and you can tell roughly how old it is, give or take about 20 years! lol

Although Campbell’s Soup Co has been around since the 1920’s, this book came along quite a few years later…..

The ideas are endless and I am honestly excited about trying a bunch of them.

The best part about old recipe books? When you aren’t using them, they are the perfect thing to showcase on your open shelves in your kitchen!

  1. Hi Tara, love your vintage cook books and pamphlets. I try to grab these up when I find them; so fun for decorating and adding some seasonal fun to a kitchen shelf or vignette. Framing the old recipe card is such a wonderful and sentimental thought!

Thanks so much for all the lovely compliments. I love framing unusual things. Such conversation pieces and it keeps them safe too. I can only imagine the history of some of these pieces.
