French Vintage Friday – Transferware

I always look forward to Friday. Partly because the weekend is coming and I have lots of extra opportunities on weekends to get some projects done (usually) and partly because its when Emily and I share something French, something vintage or something French vintage…..and I love sharing that and seeing what Emily is sharing!

Today was sort of one of those days where one domino fell over and ended up tipping the entire row. You see I had some decor I needed to put away that I cleared out of one of my kitchen cabinets to make room for more “Kitcheny” things. While strolling around looking for places that I might need to put these random items it seemed silly to find a home for them only to move them in a couple days as I put away my summer decor and bring out all things fall.

Out came the fall bins, one thing led to another and before I knew it I was clearing everything out of my hutch and cleaning it all and then getting it all ready for fall.

One of the things I do for fall is to give a more prominent position to some of my treasures that “feel like fall” to me. Like all things copper, transferware (especially brown ones), and anything that reminds me of baking or going home for the holidays.

I recently stumbled across this platter and instantly fell in love….there is just something about the pattern that feels so cozy and makes me homesick. Silly probably but there you have it!

This little pitcher is a favorite and has been from the moment I opened a birthday box from Emily and saw it for the first time!

I love to imagine all the pies that were baked in this pan over the years. Do you suppose it was pumpkin for thanksgiving or maybe apple?

Whatever memories they hold or stories they have to tell, they mean home to me.

They make things cozy….

And that’s what matters.

Until next time,

    Hi Tara,
Oh, I love that pie plate. Are there any names on the back? Can you tell me the info on the back of your lovely brown/white transferware platter?
    Thank you,
    Bonnie

I love it too! Isn’t the picture so cute? Unfortunately that one has no stamp of any kind on the back of it so I have no information as to it’s age or where it was made or anything but I love it just the same! The platter has Heritage Hall, made in Staffordshire England and the pattern is called Southern Plantation. Then it says genuine hand engraving, ironstone 4411. Hope this answers your questions.

Hi! I’m sooo in love with that platter, being a Southern girl myself…….reminds me of Tara! Can you please email me with the makers mark on the back of the plate as I would love to purchase one, too! Stephanie, angelic_accents@yahoo.com
