French Vintage Friday – Summer Curtains

Do you have summer curtains? You know what I’m talking about, right?

You have the heavier, more formal curtains for the cooler months and then flowing, breezy, lighter curtains for summer?

My momma always did.

I haven’t before now but often look at my curtains in the summertime and think I’d like something lighter that makes you feel the soft breeze blowing them around along with your hair…….but I digress….

I’ve had long, creamy colored panels in the dining room for quite some time now. They pool on the floor a little and I usually pair them with some sheers that I style in a number of ways.

Most often the sheers are twisted and looped to make an interesting valance.

There is nothing wrong with these curtains. They’re light colored. They’re well made. They’re neutral so they don’t dictate my dining room decor.

But…..

I’m sort of tired of them and although they are light in COLOR, they are a very heavy lined fabric.

Time for a change….

The inspiration began with some gorgeous creamy lace panels and valances I found at an antique shop for an incredible price. I knew the panels weren’t long enough for this window on their own but what if I paired them with some other panels?

Like these pale pink ones?

They are just light and airy enough to blow softly in the breeze when I open these front windows. The wind chimes hanging outside this window provides the perfect music….

Isn’t it funny how a simple change like some curtains can make the room feel so different? It feels like summer in here now.

Momma would be pleased.
