Fall Porches And Pumpkin Spice Lattes

This blog post really has nothing to do with Pumpkin Spice Lattes except I thought that would grab your attention and I like little more than sipping a fresh PSL while sitting and swinging on my front porch in the crisp autumn air.

That said, if you want I’ll fix you a cup while we visit and I show you what I’ve done to style my front porch for fall this year.

I know you are going to be nearly as shocked by what I did as I am. Maybe more!

Curious?

Good!

Step right this way….

Why don’t we sit here at this little table while we enjoy the view and our cozy drinks….

This table set is something I just picked up off Facebook Marketplace. I got a real deal on it and it’s solid and in pretty good shape. I was looking for a little bistro set for a long time and either couldn’t find one or didn’t want to pay what they were asking. I knew I wanted a little spot where I could enjoy some coffee and a muffin or maybe a light lunch.

The base of the table is metal and very solid and I’ll leave that as is but I KNOW I will end up painting the wood part of the top at some point. The main part of the table top is stone but the “wood” surrounding it is kind of fake looking and a little worse for wear. I think some white paint and a little distressing and I’ll be all set. I already took the fabric off the chair seats and replaced it with some faux leather I had left over from my dining room chairs. This will work much better outside.

Now I don’t know if you noticed or not but the leaves and pumpkins in the middle of this table aren’t my usual style.

They’re far too orange!

Honestly it’s all my little girls fault. We were out shopping quite a while ago and she spied the little orange pumpkin rug and she begged and she pleaded for us to get it for the front door. I tried all sorts of things to get her to fall equally in love with something a little more neutral.

Why not the one with the white and aqua pumpkins?

The blue bicycle?

Nothing worked. She was adamant.

When I saw the excitement in her eyes I had to give in.

“After all, mom, pumpkins are SUPPOSED to be orange!”.

I tried all sorts of things to convince her that some pumpkins are NOT orange. Some pumpkins are white and some are sort of a blush pink and some are even a sort of aqua blue and that those are the prettiest pumpkins of all.

It didn’t work.

“Then why are MOST of the pumpkins you see at the stores and in the fields ORANGE and why are MOST of the decorations and leaves and things for fall ORANGE?”

I gave up at this point and just took a long and thoughtful sip of my PSL and I agreed to let her have this one. At least on the PORCH.

Little by little the orange spread.

It just seemed to go with the little pumpkin rug a bit better than my usual neutrals and it made my little girl so happy!

I even picked up the first ever Jack-o-lantern my porch has had. It lights up and it’s admittedly pretty cute.

I suggested I could paint it white but my horrified little girl refused to consider that possibility!

Some cute little scarecrows showed up too and I agreed to let them stay since they were admittedly pretty cute. I wasn’t keen on their clothing choice but again it DID go with the pumpkin rug that got me into this mess to begin with!

The porch is pretty long and even with making a couple little seating areas, there is a lot of porch left empty.

For now.

I’m pretty good at filling in spaces.

I’ll admit that with the number of gray and rainy days we get this time of year, the orange DOES make it kind of cheerful out here on the porch. If you tell my daughter I’ll deny it though….

I’m thinking a little bench in this middle section would work well…….

There’s nothing I like better than cozy and inviting spaces. Inside or outside.

I hope you enjoyed the little tour of my front porch and it’s unexpected fall decor this year. Let’s just say I did it for my kids…..and I’m kind of okay with it.

Don’t go too far. I’ll be back in a day or two with another space all cozied up for fall and some time within the next week or two Emily and I are planning a whole Fall Home Tour! I’ll be sure to let you know when we do that.

Have a great day, sweet friend.

Yes they really do get a kick out of it. I think it’s probably one of their favorites I’ve ever done at this house. It’s not my top favorite for obvious reasons but it’s not all about me so….lol
