What To Buy On Summer Clearance To Use For Fall

You may not be ready to start putting out your fall decor all around your home yet – I know I’m not – but are you ready to save a whole bunch of money on some fall decor?

You know how you can get the best prices on things at the END of the season when everything goes on clearance?

But that also means you have to wait until the following year when that season comes around again to be able to use it and if you’re anything like me that’s a hard thing to have to do!

Well Emily and I thought we’d share some items that are on Clearance right now from the SUMMER collections at Michael’s and JoAnn Fabrics that you can use for your fall decor and can even order online if you like!

None of the links I’m providing in this blog post are affiliate links. I’m just sharing some things I like that are on fantastic sales to save you some time, effort and money.

The warm tones in these tea towels would look great with fall colors. They could also be used as part of a tablescape, as placemats, as napkins and a variety of other things.
This zinnia wreath has great colors for fall decor and at its current price you almost can’t pass it up. If some of the flowers aren’t your jam, just remove those ones and pop in a few other ones. It’s still a great deal! I’d probably remove the pink ones and leave the orange and rust and add some other flowers.
Want to add a few more orange Zinnia’s to the wreath I just shared? No problem! Check out the price on these babies! Maybe you should just grab some to have on hand for all kinds of places and spaces.
This Black Eyed Susan garland is so versatile and at this price – you can’t beat it. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a garland for that price. If yellow works with your fall decor – all the better. If not, simply remove the flowers and you’ve still got an incredible greenery garland for an incredible price!
One of my favorite things to add in for fall is throw pillows and cozy blankets. It just seems to make everything feel inviting regardless what color they are. In this case, however, the color also adds to the fall vibe in this gorgeous rusty terracotta. Is anyone else in love with the raw edged ruffle too?
Speaking of cozy throw blankets – wouldn’t this go perfectly with the pillow I just shared?
Maybe orange check doesn’t work for you. Perhaps you lean more towards less common fall decor colors like I do (hello aqua and blush pumpkins). Well this is the throw for you then. I think I’m going to need to order one of these for myself. Check out those colors!
Now this just tickles me in so many ways! I can think of so many ways to use this and so many seasons this would work for. Since we’re talking about fall though lets imagine this wreath form all dolled up with fall foliage and foraged materials, maybe a little ribbon, some seeded eucalyptus…..I’m thinking I’d give the pot a weathered look as well and voila! What a beauty!
I’m madly in love with this wreath and can imagine it so many different ways. I think I need about a dozen of these. Once again the colors could work perfectly for your fall decor as it is BUT if not, how amazing is this wreath base with the moss and the ferns and things? Yes please!
I must admit I love a touch of mustard with my neutrals for various seasons but fall is the perfect time to bring out all the mustard. How great would this bud vase look with fall greenery, flowers, stems, berries, and so many other ways of styling it!
Hear me out. I’m not overly fond of the palm frond bowtie look either BUT I love the base of this wreath. It reminds me a little of corn husks or even wheat and that screams fall to me. I’d just remove the bowtie bit and do my own thing! It’s still an amazing deal!
Fall is all about the start of cozy evenings by the fire, roasting marshmallows, hot apple cider, pumpkin pie and so on. I think this Gather sign says it all.
I need a whole bunch of these hanging fern branches in my life. I could use these constantly on my mantel, on my dining table, on open shelves…..the sky is the limit and what you put with it is what makes it look fall or spring or summer or whatever you want (other than probably winter since I’ve never ever seen a fern growing in winter!)
Personally I think these have a bit of the sparse twiggy look that goes so well with fall decor. Another example of a very versatile type of greenery that could go with so many seasons.
I think this blue chambray table runner would go perfectly with the rusts and mustards and oranges of fall decor that so many people use. The cool blue would add a beautiful contrast if you used this as a table runner or a dresser scarf. This is another classic that would work throughout most of the year and personally I love those sorts of pieces.

Michael’s

Does anything say fall more than cozy candles? There are so many different scents and colors at an incredible price! I want one of each…..just saying.
I’m loving these lanterns and of course they can be used in so many ways for any season. First off I’d probably use some of my favorite Rub ‘n’ Buff and change the color of them to an aged looking gold. Next I can picture them with random fall arrangements, pumpkins, acorns, etc and then come Christmas what about some tree ornaments in them?
Honestly any veggies or even fruits that are harvested in late summer or fall can be used in your fall decor, in my opinion. Especially something like faux cabbage or kale. What about apples?
To me this looks cozy and I can totally picture it styled with things other than just plants, like it was originally designed to be used for. What about a throw partly spilling over the edge and some comfy slippers for guests? Maybe some pumpkins and other fall type veggies? Sunflowers spilling out of it?
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize how perfect this would be for fall. You literally wouldn’t need to change a thing!
I’m loving this deep azure blue to throw in with all the warm tones of fall decor. These could go in so many places as part of vignettes to add a touch of class and a splash of color.
I know! I have a thing for lanterns and candles. I admit it. This is super cute though and such a great deal!
These retro style bud vases are already the perfect colors for fall but if you didn’t want these colors you could so easily paint them or try one of the very popular techniques these days like mud paint, for example.
Okay let me just say that I am going to need a whole bunch of these in every size they come in. I mean there are no words for how lovely these are and I need them for every season of course so what a perfect piece!

I hope these items gave you some ideas as to items you can grab while they are on amazing clearance prices but that you can use for a different season than what they were being sold for! Really the sky is the limit and its a good idea to look over everything seasonal with an eye for how you could maybe use that item for more than one season. You’d be amazed at how often you can do that!

I know what you mean. Honestly I adore summer and the flowers and the gardens and the heat and so many things but I love the cozy decor for fall and winter. While I’m looking very forward to decorating for fall, I don’t wish away the summer weather for a moment!

I have always been a clearance shopper, shopping after the season to have a stash for next year! I don’t understand, though, why they have sunflowers out in the spring–so I always have a bunch for late summer into fall for decorating. Unless, it is 70% off, I don’t consider it a bargain–and with today’s prices, 70% off is about reasonable in my opinion! Loved your ideas! The retirement budget for crafts/decor NEEDS to be stretched!

I hear you! I’m not on a retirement budget but have chosen to stay home with my kids while they are young so my budget is nearly nonexistent and I have to watch every penny! I don’t buy too many things at full price either. Yes, there are so many things that can be used for seasons other than what they are being sold for, aren’t there?

  3. Thanks for doing the research. Loved the zinnia wreath!
