Welcome to My Fall Porch…and a New Door!

I’ve always thought that a front door can tell you a lot about a home and even the family that lives inside. I lived somewhere once where it was believed that a brightly colored front door was an indication that guests and strangers were welcome there.

I can’t say I disagree.

I haven’t embraced this philosophy to the point where my front door is always that BRIGHT, but I do make a point of always having a pleasant contrasting door color and I ALWAYS have a wreath on my door! I think the wreath was my mother’s influence.

My wreaths changed seasonally…..and sometimes so does my front door color! haha

To be honest, this year I wasn’t sure what color I wanted to paint my door but I knew I wanted a change. The color it was previously had never been a favorite of mine yet it had stayed for longer than a lot of my door colors. Mostly because I was super busy. I was also bored of my front door wreath for autumn since I’d had it for so many years, but before I made a new wreath I wanted to settle on a color for the door.

After much thought, research, paint fan deck flipping and finally conversations with my bestie Emily, I thought I’d try a Farrow and Ball color called “Dead Salmon”. I know, right?

I literally almost chose NOT to try it due to it’s horrible name! In the end I got a tiny sample container made up and tested it out and although it is not a common color combination, I like it. Especially with the fall colors I like best – blush pink and deep green.

One of my favorites things about my porch are these rocking chairs. Nothing beats rocking with a cup of icy cold sweet tea in the hot summer…..or rocking with a hot cold of pumpkin spice latte and a cozy blanket in the crisp autumn air.

You know what’s almost better than the fact that my front porch is ready for fall? The fact that I have one of the items on my most recent To Do list, crossed off now! Remember how I needed to finish painting my front door?

DONE!

If you were to drive up to my home I hope you’d feel welcome. Even if my door isn’t super bright.

Because you are welcome.

Until next time,
