Spring Is About Simplicity

Its hard for me to keep things simple. I’m someone who is all about the details. I need all sorts of fancy bits and bobs on every piece of furniture and every shelf needs to be groaning with so many things for the eyes to take in.

Less is NOT more for me.

Less is not enough.

But if there is a season when I can do with a LITTLE bit less and keep things a LITTLE bit simpler, its got to be in the springtime….

Then again, there is so much color and life in the spring after months of everything being drab and brown and gray, that I can’t help but add just a little bit more color than I might at other times of the year. Maybe something a bit more vibrant when it comes to the greens or a pink that pops a little more.

When I saw these tiny little chubby birds I thought they were absolutely adorable BUT they were just white. Clearly I like white – have you seen my house? But it’s springtime and spring is for color so…..

I started by coloring in their eyes with a permanent marker. You could also use paint if you prefer.

And then I added just a little pop of color using a tiny paintbrush and some craft paint. I wet the brush first to make the paint go on almost more like a water color.

And then I tucked them in here and there on the shelves in my coffee nook.

I can almost hear them singing.

Oh wait! I have my window open…..that’s coming from outside.

Until next time,
