French Vintage Friday – My Funny Valentine…

It’s just around the corner, you know.

Are you humming the Frank Sinatra lyrics just like I am?

My funny valentine
Sweet comic valentine
You make me smile with my heart
Your looks are laughable
Unphotographable
Yet you’re my favourite work of art

Is your figure less than greek
Is your mouth a little weak
When you open it to speak
Are you smart?

But don’t change a hair for me
Not if you care for me
Stay little valentine stay
Each day is valentines day

Is your figure less than greek
Is your mouth a little weak
When you open it to speak
Are you smart?

But don’t change a hair for me
Not if you care for me
Stay little valentine stay
Each day is valentines day

It’s always been a special, romantic day even though most of the time it gets forgotten in our house (except for the chocolates I always get for the kids and tape to their door for when they wake up on the 14th) .

Now it’s so much more special for me because it’s the day I adopted my best friend back in 2018.

Every year I think how fun it would be to have some sort of little themed party with all sorts of fun decorations and yummy snacks and maybe games with some friends or something but every year it passes me by and I think “maybe next year”. I guess that’s what happens when you are an introvert in spite of having a creative mind!

While I never go all out decorating for Valentine’s Day I DO like to add a few more special romantic touches than normal. Maybe a little bit more blush pink that I already tuck in here and there around my home.

And without fail I ALWAYS bring out the darling little vintage valentines that my best friend, Emily, sent me a few years ago. She has all the luck finding them while treasure hunting and although I have found plenty of vintage Christmas cards and postcards, I have yet to find any vintage valentines in my hunting.

I think maybe having only a few of them makes them that much more treasured and special to me!

Then again, I’m so obsessed with old things and things with a story that I don’t know if you could really make anything more or less special in that category anyways!

Thank you! Aren’t they sweet? I sure wish I could find more but so far no luck. It won’t stop me from looking though and that’s half the fun of it!
