French Vintage Friday: Let’s Think Spring

I’ve been thinking about spring for weeks now.

Maybe longer.

Yesterday felt and smelled like spring.

Today feels like mid-winter.

In Siberia.

Never mind, I’ll just turn up the heat inside a little and continue putting lovely things around that remind me of spring.

Like this vintage style garland I made last year with ribbon, hot glue and some free printables.

Or these little postcards tucked here and there.

Or literally everywhere!

Or maybe I might make a super simple DIY using some stick glue, white card stock and some vintage prints that I downloaded.

Botanical prints are everywhere these days and I love the fresh and simple look of them. I’ve been wanting to put some up for a while now but I have very little wall space on my main floor as it is almost all open. I looked around for a while before choosing one of the few reasonably sized bits of wall I had to choose from and starting creating!

As I’ve mentioned before, if I’m wanting to make something that requires glue or changing the size etc I always use free prints that I find online rather than a truly vintage treasure.

Simply cut around your chosen prints (no matter the size), put a dab of glue in each corner and position them in the center of the card stock.

When you’re finished you just have to decide how and where to display them.

The options are literally limitless.

You can prop them here and there in vignettes, put them in frames, hang them from ribbon or lace, display them in a grouping to create a gallery…..

You can use nails, pins, push pins, tape……

I made these ones for this wall in my hallway just off my living room. Normally I have a lovely french painting there but I wanted to switch that out for something that brought spring into this space.

And what could be better than more vintage style to fit in with the rest of my decor?

  1. Did you make the bunny picture on the shelf? Did you do a tutorial?

I believe you are referring to the bunny that’s been painted on a piece of tin? That was hand painted by my amazing friend Melanie at Cedar Grove Farms. She made it for me as a gift but it’s absolutely lovely and I know she has done some similar things for sale. You can find her website and store at https://shopcedargrovefarms.com/
