Country Christmas

So remember how I said I lost a chunk of my big maple tree in a wind storm? Well not all is lost! I’m having a wonderful time making crafts from the branches I saved!

Like this wood slice wreath.

And I have so many other ideas too.

Like the idea I’m sharing right now!

I started by cutting the wood on my chop saw into thin slices.

Then I drilled holes into each slice so I can later thread something thru to hang them with.

Next I took a Sharpie, black permanent marker with an ultra fine point and I just wrote various words on each slice that came to mind when I thought of the Christmas season.

I have quite a stack already!

I cut short lengthS of twine (I used the festive kind with the gold tinsel wrapped around the twine) threaded them through the holes in the ornaments with a darning needle and knotted the tops. This allows them to be hung on a tree.

Like this!

Doesn’t this just make you want to grab a hot drink and a cozy blanket and cuddle up to watch a Hallmark Christmas movie?

There’s just something about twinkle lights. I can’t get enough of them in the fall and winter.
