French Vintage Friday – Spring Mantel

I’ve managed to take down all the rest of the winter things I have all over my home but I can’t say every last thing is put away in the rafters for next year.

I’m still working on that.

It takes a special kind of agile to balance on the ladder with a large box or bin tipping precariously on my head while I hoist myself up into the rafters of my garage to store my seasonal decor.

I tend to put it off.

Indefinitely.

Until my car can’t fit in my garage anymore and then I make myself do the dance.

With all the plants and trees budding and leafing out I decided it was high time to do my mantel with spring feels and some cheerful flowers.

I realize that lavender is not the sort of flower to be one of the first to bloom in the spring but I can’t help it – I love lavender. It was made for French decor and for making a space feel fresh and clean and it was MADE for being best friends with white tulips.

Is anyone else as obsessed as I am with this silky soft, blush pink, chunky yarn?

My obsession with white tulips continues…..

Of course vintage books, birds, tiny nests and eggs……all play into the fresh look I was craving after all the overdecorated winter months.

A few sprigs of lavender tucked (not glued) into a grapevine wreath compliments this mantel perfectly but allows for the wreath to be reused over and over again.
