Summertime Coffee Nook Shelves

I wasn’t exactly planning on doing anything with my open shelves in my coffee nook yesterday. But that was before I went out and cut a bunch of dried hydrangeas.

There’s just something about hydrangeas. They’re beautiful when they’re all fresh and brightly colored (these ones are a brilliant hot pink before they dry) but I’ve always been so fascinated by how beautifully they dry on the plant and the colors they transform into as they dry.

I can’t think of any other flowers that dry all by themselves, on the plant, allowing the blossoms to be used indefinitely.

I’d never be able to re-create the colors these blossoms have in them no matter how hard I try.

And all these open shelves needed were some huge dried hydrangea blossoms to give them a fresh new summer look.

Open shelves just give you so much room to display treasures.

It’s been a minute since I last styled these shelves. It was time.

And I can’t help but smile every time I look at this coffee nook now.

Until next time,

Emily’s Open Shelves

Emily texted me yesterday and said once she saw my open shelf refresh, she couldn’t help but work on her open shelves. To see how she styled hers, just click on the photo below.

Thanks so much. I’m glad you like them. So many shades and colors all in one blossom. I can’t never get enough of them. I find the best way is to let them dry still on the plant and then cut them. They hold their shape and keep their huge blossoms so much better. I’m sure yours look wonderful.

Awww so sweet of you to say. I was doing some gardening and saw that the hydrangeas were finally dry enough to cut so I couldn’t help but mess around with my shelves a bit when I brought them in.
