Last Minute Gift Ideas for Mother’s Day

I fully realize, as I sit and write this, that Mother’s Day is only 5 days away and that a lot of what I’m about to share won’t arrive by May 10, which is Mother’s Day this year.

I have a problem when it comes to getting gifts or cards to people on time. I keep thinking I have more time left before each event than I actually do.

Really what is the most important point though? Is it the day on the calendar that is the most important thing or is it remembering mom’s everywhere and making them feel special and like someone was thinking of them? If that’s the case (and I truly hope that it is) then this blog post can still be very helpful.

I’m taking a moment to share some small shops that have unique gift ideas that any mom would love.

Why small shops? Well this year, with all things being what they are, the small shops and the little mom and pop operations are hurting terribly since they are the ones that have been forced to close for such an extended period of time during the pandemic.

Personally I think its a win-win when we can make a mom feel special by ordering from a mom – in a lot of cases. Clearly not all small shops are operated by mom’s, or even women, but a lot of them are. Are you with me so far?

Great!

So for idea #1….

RetroWix

If you saw my blog post the other day you will already know at least one of the amazing things that this small shop has to offer. What I absolutely love is the concept of using vintage pieces to house the candles. That way, even when the candle is used up, (clearly you could always pour a new candle in it again yourself) you still have something amazing left. It’s not just a random and very boring clear glass candle jar.

Don’t even get me started on the scent that my soy candle has either. I’m sure all the candles from this shop smell amazing. Mine is called “Gardenia Tuberose” and it is absolutely fantastic. I definitely get the gardenia scent from it but if you aren’t familiar with that smell, think honeysuckle perhaps? It’s very similar.

Here are just a couple examples of what is currently in Vickie’s shop.

Keep in mind that all of these items are unique, one-of-a-kind pieces so you probably won’t find the “same” thing twice but there is such an amazing selection that I KNOW you won’t have any trouble finding dozens that you love.

Your issue is going to be narrowing it down to only 1 or 2!

There is something for everyone. All sorts of different styles.

One Blessed Acre Farm

Okay if you’ve been following me for a while you’ve heard of this shop before, owned by my friend Michelle. She and her family make the most incredible goats milk bath and body products ever! Michelle also offers some home decor items such as burlap placemats (which I own and love) and burlap table runners (which I own and love) and some random other hand sewn pieces.

While I have not tried her lip balm yet, I have heard nothing but great things about it and it’s one of her top sellers. She has so many amazing flavors.

Possibly my favorite thing that Michelle makes is this incredible goats milk lotion. I literally use her lotion every day and it’s amazing. I have always had sensitive skin on my face and I have trouble finding lotions that don’t cause a reaction. This is perfection! She has so many different scents available too and every one I’ve tried is better than the one before.

I have a cream burlap table runner from Michelle and I absolutely love it. I use it a lot on my dining table. It has just the right amount of elegance with the pleated borders on each end and if you choose one of the less common colors (gray, cream etc) it again has more elegance than the traditional tan color of burlap. Either way – they’re amazing and so well made! They come in a variety of lengths too.

What mom wouldn’t adore some of these fizzy bath bombs perhaps combined with her favorite drink and a promise for some babysitting so she can enjoy a wonderful soak and some “me time”? Combine this with a couple other products like maybe some of the lotion and some lip balm and you’ve got an amazing spa gift set.

I’ve always loved the goats milk soap that Michelle makes but right now, with so much focus on extra hand washing, everyone is bound to be suffering from dry skin on their hands – am I right?

This amazing soap does not dry out your skin at all. I use it every day. It also comes in so many scents that are all so superb, that your biggest problem will be choosing from them all. They are as pretty as they are wonderful too. I love having some extras just sitting around as part of my bathroom decor.

If you’d like to find out a little more about what is in these products (or more importantly not in them) check out Michelle’s website for all the details. You can purchase her products from her Etsy shop.

Sweet Mint Handmade Goods

There aren’t too many moms that I know of who don’t survive on coffee. If the mom you are shopping for isn’t one of those then likely she at least enjoys a mug of tea or hot cocoa every now and then. Am I right? I thought so.

Let me introduce you to the cutest small shop for mugs. I mean, when I pulled it up on my phone I found 48 pages of mugs! I’m not kidding. There is something for everyone whether you want sweet, sassy, spicy, or even a custom saying. Here are a few of my favorites!

For me this should probably be reversed. ALWAYS sarcastic….

Funny, especially right now, but seriously I’m an introvert.

Oh yes! I have to admit this is pretty true. What was I just saying about not getting gifts and cards out on time???

Mmm-hmmm

Let’s say a mug isn’t quite what you are looking for….or maybe you’d like to add something to it? Chloe has got you covered!

Throw pillows! Cute, and there is something for nearly every style.

Like I was saying….

How about throwing in a tea towel? What mom do you know that doesn’t use tea towels?

Just a little tip – they work better when they’re cute. I’m totally serious.

Like this one! This is on my “need” list. There is no such thing as a “want” list when it comes to necessities like pretty towels. Ladies, you all know what I’m talking about!

Suffice it to say, you NEED to check out this wonderful small shop. She has a lot more products than what I’ve shown here so you need to see for yourself.

Ohio Wreaths and More

A gift list for mom wouldn’t be complete without some flowers. Now clearly you could pop into your local grocery store and buy her a bouquet (since there aren’t a lot of florists open right now) and while it would be beautiful, it won’t last for more than a week. Probably.

OR

You could order her a lovely floral arrangement or a wreath for inside or outside that will last forever.

Doesn’t this just scream “spring” to you? I would love it on my front door!

I haven’t met a solitary person yet who said they did NOT like hydrangeas. What about a simple white arrangement like this one that is sure to go with any color scheme. This would even work for someone whose home you might not be all that familiar with to choose a more specific color.

Here is another example of something a bit more colorful.

There are lots more options too. Just check out Deb’s Etsy shop for lots of ideas in many sizes, styles and price ranges.

What are you waiting for?

Go place your order(s)! And once you’ve finished shopping for your mom and bestie and kids’s teacher and the coffee shop owner and the FedEx lady and probably your mother-in-law too, how about sending the link for this blog post to your hubby as a HUGE hint!

I wonder if Emily has any gift ideas to share…

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope this has helped. Until next time….
