I’m So Glad I Live In A World Where There Are Octobers

I have a secret. Want to hear it?

It’s about my front porch…..specifically in the fall.

You see this is what my fall porch looks like….in my head.

Or this.

And of course this.

But truth be told my porch looks nothing like any of these stunning photos. I only wish it did.

Unfortunately the vast number of real pumpkins and potted chrysanthemums on these porches are just not something my non-existent budget can accommodate and so my porch can never look this good, but if you are with me on the whole tiny budget thing…..don’t give up thinking it’s completely a lost cause. You can still add some cozy to your porch.

Faux pumpkins and a couple quirky jack-o-lanterns add some personality and cozy vibes and can be used year after year. I know you can get to my door and actually walk through – it isn’t completed blocked off my stacks of straw and piles and piles of pumpkins and more mums than a garden center BUT it’s still festive. I like the piles and piles of pumpkins, by the way.

Soft blankets to cozy up in on those crisp fall evenings area great touch and can be easily washed if your porch is as dusty as mine is.

The copper pumpkin is all me. The orange scarecrow is all my kids. They can’t get a firm grasp on why I don’t use the traditional fall colors in my decor…..

I usually change up the fall wreath I put on my door every year but I liked this simple, neutral wreath I made last year so well that I decided to use it again this year.

And yes, my kids got their way with another scarecrow.

All the fall foliage and drying hydrangeas in my flowerbeds help to create a cozy feel too and make the front porch feel more private too.

That’s how I add some cozy fall touches to my front porch. I hope it can give you some simple ideas that won’t break the bank but still be really festive.

Until next time,
