French Vintage Friday – Vintage Crates

It’s been so long since I last posted for French Vintage Friday that I almost felt like I didn’t know how when I sat down to write this post. Whew! Luckily it came back to me!

I guess it’s like riding a bike…..

Anyways for years I have looked at all the lovely wooden crates people have in their homes and really wished I could find an old one to put blankets in or throw pillows or all sorts of other lovely things.

Like this darling specimen that Emily has in her front entry!

I’d look every time I was in a thrift store or antique shop but whenever I found them they were listed at a higher price than this thrifty momma could handle so I would walk away sadly.

But then?

About a week or so ago when I was in one such shop I spied something tucked away in a corner with a whole bunch of random things inside. I checked with bated breath to see if it was even for sale or just a container the store used to display things.

And I couldn’t believe my good fortune when it was not only for sale but it was listed at $4!!!!!

You better believe it went straight into my arms!

Now I can’t tell you any history about this piece since it isn’t a common advertising crate like Emily’s BUT I can tell you the wood has all the patina and all the aged look that I was craving and the cracks and chips just add to it’s charm.

And I CAN tell you that it has already been filled up with some cozy little blankets which are just perfect for snuggling under this time of year.

And I CAN tell you that I can’t wait to see what Emily is sharing this week!

Let’s go check it out!
