French Vintage Friday: Ironstone Au Gratin Dishes

Good morning, lovelies! I’m so happy to see you again this week. I’m currently away from home visiting a large antique mall and I’m so excited to share some of the experience with y’all soon. I’m going to be sharing some pictures and hopefully some video to my Instagram stories, if you happen to follow me on Instagram. If you don’t – now might be a great time to start! Meanwhile, let’s talk about French Vintage Friday, mkay?

So just the other week I suddenly remembered this antique place that I hadn’t been to in a very long time. Like maybe a year or so! There’s a good reason for that, believe it or not.

This place is quite near where I live so you’d think I would be there quite a lot but unfortunately when the owner moved to his current location which he owns, from his leased location downtown, he seemed to feel it was okay to now smoke indoors all the time. I don’t personally like to purchase things that have been exposed to cigarette smoke since I am highly sensitive to it as are several of my children and it’s extremely difficult to get rid of that smell.

And so I stopped going to that store in spite of him having some pretty neat things.

On a whim I thought I would run out there last week.

And guess what!

When I walked in, expecting to be hit in the face with cigarette smoke – it didn’t happen!

I breathed in more deeply thinking maybe I was a little stuffed up.

Still nothing.

Wonder of wonders it seems that this man has ceased to smoke in his store! Perhaps customers complained? Whatever the reason I was a pretty happy camper that day!

And then I saw them…

A stack of ironstone au gratin dishes! I quickly had a closer look and was so excited to find them in very good condition in regards to chips and cracks.

All of them have a fair bit of crazing which I happen to love!

There were 7 of them and I happily walked out the door having purchased all 7! Of course I got a couple other treasures too but that’s for another week. Or two.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and reading my post. I love our little visits and I especially love when you leave me a comment! It’s so much fun to share my favorite things with you, sweet friend.

Now let’s head over to Emily’s house and see what she has to share with us today. I can’t wait to see!!! Just click the picture below.

Thank you! It’s nice to finally have my pretty vintage things look a little less out of place in this house with more of the renovations done, and to be able to add more to my collections.

I could be wrong, but that’s what I am pretty sure they are. I’ve seen lots of au gratin dishes before and these are the right size, depth, shape etc. You totally need some 🥰
