Gather Together With Thankful Hearts – Thanksgiving Tablescape Ideas

Show of hands – who’s excited for Thanksgiving?

Do you have your guest list all worked out? Is it just going to be family or are some friends going to be gathered around your table too?

Is your menu planned down to the last detail?

What about planning how you will set your table? After all it isn’t just any other day – it’s Thanksgiving!

A couple days ago Emily asked if I would join her in showing some ideas for Thanksgiving tablescapes. Now obviously I was flattered to be asked but in truth – I don’t have nearly the flair for tablescapes that Emily does. I wondered if what I could find in pictures from past Thanksgiving tables would actually be helpful to anyone.

Well…..here’s hoping.

There’s something about stacking plates that instantly makes it feel more dramatic and special. I combined all sorts of different dishes here, all in white, and used a small wreath form for some added interest and texture. My centerpiece was simply a whole array of pumpkins and gourds tucked into some mesh ribbon. I kept it very simple and neutral.

I didn’t set the whole table here but I did throw together a simple 5 minute centerpiece. You don’t have to have all the things and all the dishes and fluffy things to still be able to set a pretty table. Some flowers (fresh or faux), a few pumpkins, some candles (candles are always a good idea) and a couple random branches that give the feeling of fall.

I think you can see my “thing” is sort of simple and quite neutral. This tablescape is still a favorite even though there isn’t much to it. I made cutlery pockets out of wide lace and ribbon, used some colored glassware and put candles in milk glass vases and that’s just about it. So easy and simple with everyday items you likely have around your house.

Last year my Thanksgiving table took a bit of a turn from what I’ve showed you so far. I really liked the look of how I had put pink pumpkins on the mantel in my bedroom and so I decided to use that concept for my tablescape.

A small crochet tablecloth, pink and white pumpkins, a set of turkey candle holders and lots and lots of candles! I used my green glassware again and some simple leaves as napkin holders. No matter what you put on your table the thing most remembered by your guests is the feeling of being gathered around your table with good food and great company!

Obviously I haven’t made my tablescape up for Thanksgiving this year yet but this is a centerpiece I put together a few weeks ago just for a fall feel. This would work just fine for Thanksgiving as well. As you can see I just used a simple scarf and layered it with candles, pumpkins and a couple cute little jack-o-lanterns. Some fall colored leaves finished the look.

I hope this helped to give you some ideas for what you could do on your table this Thanksgiving. Now let’s hop on over to Emily’s house where I never cease to get inspiration from all her tablescapes no matter what time of year it is.

They were unbelievably simple and easy to make too. I need to use them more often in my tablescapes. I seem to forget about them most of the time.
