When You Can’t See The Forest For The Trees!

Recently I was inspired, yet again, by a project that my best friend Emily made. Let me show you.

She made this little wooden tree forest using some triangles of wood, some saltwash paint, some wood trim and some dowels. There isn’t much this girl can’t do! At least not that I’ve discovered.

When I saw her project I knew that I needed to make one of my own and I knew it would be the perfect thing for several places in my home where it’s not always easy to find seasonal decor to fit. Now if I showed you how I made the exact same thing, it wouldn’t be much fun so I’m going to create a similar project but somewhat different from Emily’s forest. (I will make one just like hers sometime soon though)

First I found a piece of firewood with a nice flat bottom and some interesting details. This would be my base.

Next I grabbed some different bottle brush trees and decided where I wanted them to be on my base piece and drilled some holes for them to sit in.

I removed the plastic bases that the trees came with by unscrewing them in a counterclockwise motion.

Then I glued the trees into the holes that I drilled.

Honestly that’s all there was to this piece. I didn’t change the base in any way because it already had such nice color and character and the trees didn’t need anything done to them either.

Now for styling this piece!

I have several spots in my home where there are these ledges and this is the perfect thing to style those.

It also works as part of a centerpiece….

And is perfect for a toilet tank which is notoriously hard to find something seasonal for.
