There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly

You know how it goes, right?

First she swallows a fly and then she has to swallow a spider to catch the fly…..

Pretty soon she is all the way up to a swallowing a cow and a horse all because she first swallowed a fly.

You see, it all started for me with a faucet. Yup! I wanted a new faucet for my powder room because the old chrome one just didn’t look good with all the brass and gold I had in the room after it’s makeover. Well it took me a while to find a faucet that I liked and that I wouldn’t have to sell the house to be able to afford.

But then?

I found a beautiful one. And it was a really good price too. So I bought it.

Of course when I went to install it I discovered that the old faucet was a 3-hole faucet and the new one was a 1-hole and had no plate to cover the other 2 holes I didn’t need.

No big deal. I needed a new sink anyways, right?

But then I couldn’t find a sink that would fit the existing hole in the vanity and only had one center hole for the faucet.

So I had to order one.

The new sink is beautiful and fits perfectly into the already existing countertop! I was finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel.

But I spoke too soon.

The sink didn’t come with the part that fits into the drain in the bottom of the sink. Oh well.

So I went to my local Home Depot and bought one. Only they didn’t have it in brass and my new faucet was brass.

So I had to also buy a kit that allows you to change out the decorative flange on that little drain trim. And I got that in brass.

And then I went to hook up the new sink to the existing plumbing. But the new sink drain didn’t line up with the old plumbing. I don’t know why since it was the same size sink but it didn’t . I think the different manufacturers do that on purpose to cause DIY addicts like me, who like to bite off a bit more than we can chew, some extra gray hairs.

So before I know it I’m having to re-do all the plumbing underneath this sink in order to get it back in working order.

Did I mention that the hot and cold water lines that came with the new faucet were also 2″ too short to reach the water valves under my vanity? So then I had to get connectors and attach some additional length to them. More gray hairs!

Finally after countless trips back and forth to Home Depot and various and sundry other places – my new faucet is hooked up and operational. And I’m proud to announce there are no leaks.

I’m gonna think twice before I replace the faucet in the kid’s bathroom!

I’m not really in the mood to eat a horse or a cow any time soon.
