The Very Merry Christmas Home Tour

I’m so excited to welcome y’all to my home!  A special welcome to Victoria’s readers from The Home Envy.

I decided to keep things very simple this year and to use a lot of winter elements, instead of specifically Christmas decor so that it wouldn’t have to immediately come down on December 26!  There are only a few bits and pieces here and there that will need to be changed and I will probably be ready to do that by then anyways!

Some simple layered rugs, a potted tree, a winter wreath and a DIY wooden sign are what greets you at my front door.  I’m a big fan of changing my door color depending on the season or the decor I want to put on it but after waiting a little too long to change it’s color this season, I had to change my wreath instead!  That will teach me a lesson about procrastination…

This simple view with it’s little nativity is what greets you as you enter my front door.  My kid’s love putting up this little scene each year and take turns choosing little figurines to put into just the right place.

My front entry itself has just a few simple wintery touches and recently underwent a pretty major makeover!  The shelf was part of a challenge a few blogging friends and I do every month and the little table is thrifted and of course painted.

If you turn left from my entry you will be in my dining room.  I’ve added some winter touches to the wall collage, some greenery and done a simple wintery tablescape….

My tablescape consists of burlap, jingle bells, sleighs, snowflakes and some little trees.  Of course we can’t forget some twinkle lights too.  For the full dining room tour, click HERE

If you turn right from my front entry, you will enter the living room.

The fireplace is now one of my favorite features but used to be what I liked the least in this room!  After a 3 part makeover it’s finally the feature it was always supposed to be.

I’ve added some DIY wreaths, an evergreen garland and simple wintery touches.  For the full mantle decor details, click HERE

Our one and only Christmas tree is decked out with all sorts of special ornaments that we’ve made and collected for the past several years, all representing special memories.

From the living room it flows into this area where I have a small table by the patio doors leading to the back yard.  On the left you can just see the little nook in the wall that would be called a desk by most people.  To me it’s called the “future coffee and cocoa station”.  The MR doesn’t know this yet.  Shhhh…..

This is my kitchen.  I thought maybe you couldn’t tell.  I mean the fridge is frequently mis-identified.

I spend most of my day in this general area.  It’s important to me that it feels warm and welcoming here and that there are plenty of places for my kids to pull up a stool to share the space with me while I cook and clean and craft.

The biggest thing I did in the kitchen this year was the poinsettia garland and the twinkle lights on top of the cabinets.

I put twinkle lights in the plants and greenery above the cabinets too.  The whole kitchen glows at night!

I love incorporating useful and appropriate items into my decor, especially in the kitchen.  This is far from the first time I have used this copper colander to decorate with and it won’t be the last!  I was just thinking I really need to get another one so I still have one to use while using one for decor!
