About a year ago I didnโt even own any milk glass. Literally not one piece. Then sweet Emily won me over on the little milk glass vases. Iโve got the beginnings of a pretty large collection of those now.
I hadnโt ventured outside of vases however, until a sweet friend sent me a special gift for my birthday.
This piece is like no other Iโve ever seen. Itโs very thin and fragile looking, hand painted with beautiful roses, and has no fancy edge or raised pattern to it.
Iโve determined that it is not only vintage, there is a chance it is antique.
Apparently plates and any other dinnerware were never made in milk glass, back in the day. Plates like mine were made in limited numbers and were only ever for serving or display . I think, with its hand painted roses, that mine was likely always intended to be a beautiful piece of art.

Until next time….
How pretty! Yes, I think you are right, Tara. It looks like it was painted at the turn of the last century when ladies were hand-painting china plates with roses all over the world. I have several bowls which were hand-painted, plus rose paintings from the same time period (and newer reproductions).
Really lovely… Funny, I never really knew what milk glass was but my mother kept two lamps on her dresser which were definitely milk glass in the hobnail style (those funny bumps were on the bulbous fluted-chimney milk glass shades). They eventually were broken by brothers or dogs racing around but they were really pretty and the glass was so creamy. I’m glad you have a small collection now! The vases are particularly beautiful and still perfect for today!
Have a great weekend,

I completely agree with you. I love how many ways you can style the vases and they look so great. Itโs too bad those lamps got broken – what a treasure they would be now.
ps I was just looking at your photos below and… I know where you are going with the cute bench that you made!!! <3 Looks good!

Thanks so much, Barb. Isnโt there just such a sense of satisfaction from creating things?
