I’d like to say that I’m happy it’s Friday today, but to be honest it’s been a day! That’s why I’m just sitting here in the middle of the afternoon, at my laptop, and writing this. Normally I write this post on Thursday night.
Things are never calm and quiet around here. I mean – 5 kids don’t exactly allow you to hear a pin drop or to keep much of a level of sanity. Add in some extra commitments for the weekend and company coming over for a meal and you have a potential recipe for disaster in this house.
All in all the kids and I have made several dozen waffles to put in the freezer (my kids love waffles and homemade is so much better than the ones you can buy), made several large entrees, dessert, and gravy all in advance for our company.
It was the kind of morning where, I needed some extra coffee…did I get extra coffee?
No.
No I did not. I MADE coffee and then I went to do something else and when I came back to pour my coffee (I make mine with a French press) I got there just in time to watch my youngest son pouring it all down the drain! He thought he would surprise me by making a batch of fresh coffee for me, not realizing I had just made that press full. What can you do? His intentions were so sweet.
But I digress. You aren’t here to listen to my lack of coffee ramble on….you’re here to see something amazing.
And vintage.
And something I can’t get enough of.
I don’t think I ever will.
It’s called an addiction collection.

Let’s talk about these candlesticks, mkay?
I love the shiny bright ones because they add some classic “bling” to wherever I put them. I wish I could put candles in the candlesticks I use on my mantel but since it is a working fireplace, the heat that comes up when the gas fireplace is on (which it is a lot this time of year) is too much for any poor candles to withstand.
Tall ones.
Short ones.
Big ones.
Little ones.
Shiny ones.
Loads of patina.
I love them all!
They pair with anything.
I have a couple sets but mostly they are individual ones I’ve picked up here and there while thrifting and antiquing.
There isn’t a room in my home that doesn’t have some brass candlesticks.
Okay the kids bathroom doesn’t.
But that’s about all.
Aren’t the little ones with the finger loops adorable? They make me feel all fancy when I carry them around.
See how much patina this one has on it? You can barely tell it’s brass.
I think it could be my favorite one of all. I like to imagine the stories it could tell, if only it could talk….
