French Vintage Friday: Vintage Valentines

I’m so excited to see you again, dear friends. Happy Friday! This has become one of my favorite days of the week now, not because it’s nearly the weekend, but because of this blog post that Emily and I do each Friday.

If we have been friends for very long you know that I dearly love vintage treasures and nothing more than french style so when those two things are combined – I am a VERY happy girl!

Each week I think and think about what treasure I am going to share with y’all from my meager collections and I get excited just thinking about it. I’m also just counting the minutes until we publish our blog posts so I can pop on over to Emily’s post and see what she has shared for the week.

You see, she has been collecting vintage treasures for a lot longer than I have and she has some amazing things! One of the things I’ve always admired and loved seeing in her home are her vintage post cards and vintage valentines. I have a number of vintage prints but have never been able to find any of the lovely vintage valentines while thrifting and antiquing like those she has.

And then?

I had a birthday!

And I got a special box from Emily just for me for my birthday.

And you know what was inside?

Some vintage valentines! Some of the sweetest little cards and valentines I’d ever seen and I squealed and ran around looking for the perfect places to display them!

I mean – just look at this adorable little girl and read that verse!

This one grabbed my eye right away and there was a further surprise….wait for it….

Check out the little message on the back! Don’t you just really want to know who Ray and Hellen were/are and when he gave this to her? What was their story?

And then there is this pretty little girl…

How delicate is this one? It’s a bit hard to tell from the pic but it’s got layers and layers.

In order to open this one, you must fold the butterflies wings and slide them through the slot in the card and it has the most beautiful poem inside. I only looked at it once because the card is in delicate condition and I didn’t want to risk opening the card and shutting it again.

I have full intentions of keeping on hunting for these beautiful treasures and will snatch them up any time I find them, if I find them in my travels. Meanwhile, this is one of the sweetest and most heartfelt gifts I’ve ever received!

Have you got any vintage valentines? I’d love to see them!

What about an amazing and surprise gift from a friend? Do tell! I love stories like that.
