French Vintage Friday: Ironstone Tureens

I’ve never met an ironstone tureen I didn’t love. Depending on the condition I find them in I may or may not use them to actually put food in but they still wind up at my house, in my hutch generally, when I come across them.

Sometimes they have lids and sometimes they don’t but that doesn’t matter to me since I often put something seasonal in them anyways.

Sometimes I put another container inside them to hold water and use them for flower arrangements.

Sometimes I just stack them.

Sometimes I use them as a centerpiece.

They work with every season.

Sometimes they’re tiny and sometimes they’re really big.

And sometimes you find a new little gem like this and the moment you see it, you can picture styling it in a very specific way!

In spite of this one being really clean and very usable for food I envisioned it with flowers in it.

Any flowers you like will do. I chose ones that didn’t require much depth for their roots since this is a shallow tureen.

A little extra potting soil and a little nest and it was all done, ready to look pretty on my vintage breakfast table.

I just know you are going to want to keep your eyes open for ironstone tureens or any pretty little versatile dish like these onesโ€ฆ..there is just so much you can do with them.

Until next time,
