Festive Gift Wrapping Ideas

Today I’m sharing something really fun with you! A Present Wrapping Blog Hop hosted by my friend Shea over at Sweet Southern Grace. At the end of this blog post I will share links to some other bloggers ideas.

Wait! Have we met?

I thought you looked familiar.

So you know that I sort of have a thing for neutrals and blush pink and French blue and unusual seasonal color combinations then, right?

I’m thinking it’s not a big surprise then when I tell you that my favorite scheme for wrapping presents is using neutrals? White and gold, sometimes plain white or even brown package paper…..then I add the bling!

It’s the bling that’s the best part. Lots and lots of ribbon…..

Vintage lace and random pieces of trim is always a good idea….

Sparkly things pick up reflections of the lights on the tree and makes everything just a bit more magical.

Now while this is my favorite look and sort of my “go to” style, my kids aren’t that impressed by my creations. They feel that Christmas presents should be bright and cheerful and there should be no end of red and green and Santa and sleigh bells and Rudolph and “warm woolen mittens”……

…and so I try to wrap their presents in a way that appeals to them more while still keeping a touch of a vintage, old world Christmas feel.

I do that with things like the twine and tiny grapevine wreath I used on this package.

I do it with the type of paper I choose. It doesn’t have to cost a lot, it has to just have a bit of that vintage Christmas look to it like these papers I recently picked up at Dollar Tree, of all places.

I have often used random cutouts as tags like the vintage looking Santa cutouts I used on some of the packages I did in neutrals. Anything that you can write a name on will do the trick and I like the sort of ones that I can hang with a piece of string or thread or tie to something rather than the sticker type. It adds more of a three-dimensional look.

Inexpensive Christmas tree ornaments (particularly the flatter ones) can make great embellishments on presents. I picked up these wooden Merry Christmas tags at Dollar Tree when I got the paper.

Jingle bell garland is a great thing to wrap around a package too.

Well that’s all for now…..I’ve got some more presents to wrap quickly before my kids discover where I’m hiding!
