Falling In Love With Autumn

Have you ever caught yourself saying it?

You know.

It.

That (insert current season) is your FAVORITE season…..and then the very next season you say the same thing all over again.

I know I do. I sort of feel a bit fickle when I hear it coming out of my mouth again but it’s always true.

At the time.

Every time I look at a chubby little pumpkin, I fall in love with Autumn all over again.

And the warm, cozy colors?

Yes, please.

Give me all the gold and brass and copper, please….

I’ve been obsessed with neutral colors for fall for several years now with the random addition of a splash of rust or maybe a pinch of teal but this year I want all the “blonde” leaves! They’re just calling my name every time I walk into a store and so far I’ve been resisting but I don’t know how much longer I can hold out. I think I’m going to have to buy them all and put them absolutely everywhere!.

Okay I’m kidding just a little…..

Not literally everywhere.

I don’t bake a whole lot during most of the year but Fall seems to be the perfect excuse to start baking. Of course then I know I’m gonna start eating my baking too so good thing for those oversized sweaters that we can get away with in the Fall!

Speaking of baking….I couldn’t resist framing the old, well-loved recipe I found inside a vintage cookbook I bought recently. Admittedly I got the idea from Emily….I loved her framed recipes when I first saw them a couple years ago now…. I wonder how many times “Grama White’s Cake” was made and loved by this woman’s family and friends?

Every season is a good season to use old books on your open shelves!

Oh and blush pink! Every season is a good season to use some blush pink too!

You won’t find much decor from Dollar Tree in my home but would you believe I got these pinecones there?

It’s true.

Everyone thinks that spring is a celebration of new life and it is but in many ways so is fall…..

Pardon me while I go make myself a pumpkin spice latte (the REAL reason I’m in love with fall) and take a leisurely walk around my back yard. I want to see if any of the leaves on my huge maple are changing color yet…..

I know, right? I was going down the row with all the fall stuff and saw one sitting randomly in a bin with completely unrelated things. It was the only one around but I grabbed it up and then when I was waiting in line at the checkouts I saw some on a little display with candle holders and little random seasonal things right at the end of the checkout. I grabbed up another! I’m wondering if I might need a couple more still while they still have them. They add such a nice bright spot to a vignette!

  2. This is so pretty and inspiring! I haven’t gotten my fall out yet, but I’m super excited to!

Thank you so much! I am happy that you like it. I find fall is the perfect time to cater to my tendency to really create a lot of visual interest in my vignettes and pack all the treasures in that you might pair down in the spring and summer for a more minimalist look. Thanks so much for the feature. I’m honored.
