Crafting Up Christmas

It’s been a week!

You know the sort I’m talking about.

The ones where everything that you try that normally goes perfectly fine, suddenly goes all crazy. Projects that should be easy suddenly look all kinds of wrong.

Simple DIY projects look like Kindergarten crafts. The ones they proudly bring home and you smile and say “I love it” and hope they will tell you what it is and not ask you if YOU know because you can’t figure that out for the life of you.

That kind of week.

For several days in a row Emily and I planned to post a Christmas craft or two and each time they weren’t turning out. For either of us.

So we stopped trying.

And then it happened.

I had a framed mirror sitting around for a while and suddenly inspiration struck. I had bought it for the style of the frame, not to use as a mirror.

I started by cutting a piece of sheet music to fit the same size as the piece of mirror and put the frame back together with the music as the backing.

I had already used some antique gold Rub n Buff on the formerly black frame quite some time ago but that’s as far as I’d gotten.

My next step was to repeat the process with a plastic bangle bracelet.

And then to make a little wreath using some boxwood sprigs and a jingle bell.

A dab of hot glue and the addition of a wooden cut work star and I’m loving how it turned out.

It fits in perfectly with all my neutrals and splashes of gold that I have in my living room this year.

I ended up adding some little pearls to the frame for some added sparkle as well….

Now let’s go see what Emily made. Just click on the picture below.

  2. Tara,

This is too cute. I have had those kinds of weeks too. It’s frustrating when you have a vision and it doesn’t work. Makes me crazy.

Yes! I don’t have them often so I’m grateful for that but I sure did this past week! I hope it’s over for a while.

  3. Tara,

That picture is beautiful! I love your creativity! Sometimes creativity takes awhile to percolate!

Very true and sometimes all it takes is looking at someone else’s ideas and all sorts come flooding into your own mind. Wishing you a creative day!
