…But The Fire Is So Delightful…

I can actually sing that song this year!  How cool is that?

Why, you ask?  Well if you saw my fireplace before it’s recent makeover, you’d understand.

Welcome to my living room!  My deconstructed chair is even sighing with relief and sporting a lovely and festive throw pillow.

Our tree is filled with special ornaments all of which have a special memory or story attached to them for some member of our family.

I’ve wrapped the gifts very simply this year with brown paper and some plaid paper I got at Walmart.  I’ve added some curly ribbon, some twine and some paper tags to dress them up.

We’ve been doing some baking lately including a wonderful new treat!  Eggnog Snickerdoodles were a big hit in this house!

I fully intend to replace this sofa as soon as is humanly possible.  Of course I’ve been saying that for the past several years and something else always gets deemed more important when I have the money saved up.  Oh well.  Nothing a cozy throw and a couple pillows can’t help to improve.  The door in the hallway behind the sofa is the main floor Powder Room which is undergoing a makeover in my mind currently.  I’ll let you know how that is turning out soon!

That coffee table has a wonderful story behind it that I will tell y’all some time.

This bookcase used to be up in the Master Bedroom holding books.  How boring is that?  I decided to switch things all around. (cause I do that when I get bored instead of watching movies or going out for coffee like normal people do)  I have had so much fun displaying things on it down here in the living room.

I’ve used my little tree from my Dollar Tree Tablescape Challenge but added some spray snow to it.

Of course there are some vintage books here and there because….BOOK CASE!

My little snow village is made up mostly from Dollar Tree items, to be perfectly honest.  We’ve added some bottle brush trees from Walmart and a snow blanket and the kids LOVE it.  I don’t have many surfaces thanks to the main floor being open (not many walls to put furniture on) so we can’t have a large winter village but this one does the trick to fill that want.

What else does every bookcase need other than firewood?  I mean….

This room is always nice and bright thanks to all it’s large windows and the glass doors with it’s transom above.  Our tall vinyl fence around the entire yard means I don’t need blinds for privacy so I’ve left these windows bare with just the decorative window treatments.  I have put some film on the glass which blocks the damaging UV rays to prevent fading and keeps it cool in the summer but the light still streams in!

Between the living room and the kitchen I’ve put a small round table and chairs

This is where I find myself blogging, doing some of my crafts and DIY’s and where the kids play and do crafts most of the time too.  They like being close to me when I’m in the kitchen and with that table and the bar stools, they can all hang out together without messing up whatever lovely tablescape I have going on in the dining room!  lol

Let’s face it, with 5 kids I end up spending a LOT of time in this kitchen cooking, doing dishes and cleaning up after cooking!

There’s also the added bonus of having another surface to put stuff on!  That’s my favorite thing about this table but it sounds better when I say its great for the kids!  ๐Ÿ™‚
