I’m so glad you’re here ?. I wanted to share some ideas with you. You see, I’ve been planning my winter/Christmas decor for this year.
I’ve already pulled out the bins of what I have from last year and gone through them and I’ve been thinking on what I can use and what I’d like to look for or make to produce the look I’m craving this season.
Do you do that?
I had a grand time last night looking over last years Christmas Home Tour and figuring out what I liked and what I didn’t want to repeat.

Let’s start at the beginning…
So I’m thinking maybe two little trees by the door this year, and something different for on the door. My front door is currently painted Sherwin Williams “Rain” as opposed to this dark brown.
I’m thinking something along these lines might be fun for my front door! Plus it gives me the opportunity to make something new and that’s always a good thing.
This was my front entry last year and I’m thinking of going with something a little more basic this year. Trees.
Yup!
That’s right. Trees. You’ll see.
It will be beautiful.
The dining room will be different in that I have different furniture in it now and the Nativity scene will be elsewhere as a result.
One thing I know I want to try this year for sure is putting some greenery and ornaments on the chandelier. I love that look, don’t you?
As for my living room, now that is going to be somewhat different even before I start with the decorations ?. While looking through the photos I realized that it was clearly after Christmas last year that I re-did my mantel after having found the corbels that inspired the new look.
The look I’m going for this year is very neutral, lots of natural elements and hopefully some vintage ornaments.
We’ve only ever had the one Christmas tree (I know, I know!) and the kids have such a collection of memorable ornaments now that it has a look of it’s own regardless what I want to do with it.
This year I’d like to get another Christmas tree (preferably a pencil tree if I can find a super good deal on one) so that I can have one just to style however I like.
Several of my kids have tiny trees in their bedrooms that they decorate how they wish so I think it’s only fair that momma gets one as well ?
The last stop on the tour from 2018 is the kitchen. Now right from the start this year there is going to be a huge difference in how this space looks after a rather large makeover this year.
However, for Christmas decor my plans are to go more neutral rather than all the red and to add in some trees above my cabinets.
There will still be lots of white twinkle lights because I’m in love with the glow but you won’t be seeing the red poinsettias this year.
In addition to the rooms on last years tour you will be seeing my Powder Room, probably my Master Bedroom, and maybe a couple of the kids rooms if I can bribe them into cleaning them up long enough for a pic or two. All rooms in this house get Christmas decor but some aren’t always “tour worthy” ?

And so, without giving away all my secrets, that’s what is floating around in my head for winter/Christmas at my home this year.
I will be making lots of things as I always do and searching high and low for vintage treasures to add to my home this season. I hope you’ll come along.
