A Cup Of Inspiration – Volume 3

Happy Sunday, y’all!

I’m so glad to see you. I’ve been thinking about our coffee date all week and looking forward to it. I have some amazing things to share with you this morning….

I’ve been seeing more and more fall decor around in stores and online and I’m super excited to be able to decorate for fall since it’s seriously one of my most favorite seasons.

But…

It’s so hot this summer that I can’t even begin to think about it yet. Normally I’m sneaking out the odd pumpkins here and there by this time of year but every time I even consider that possibility I just see melted jack-o-lantern faces and I can’t do it.

It’s going to have to cool down a little first before I can bring myself to get those bins out.

Meanwhile….

Who NEEDS a slice of this? April’s Gluten Free Mocha Cake caught my eye immediately! I have so many friends, relatives and neighbors that are gluten free that any yummy recipe I can find in that category is a keeper! I am anxious to try this one. It certainly looks amazing!

For those of you that might live in places where the weather is starting to turn a wee bit cooler by now, perhaps you might be already considering your fall decor or maybe even (dare I suggest it?) sneaking out the odd pumpkin or two! In that case you might find this article by my friend Carol very interesting and helpful. She shares how to Reuse and Restyle Fall Decorations.

Whether you are ready for full on fall or not, regardless how hot it is where you live, the flowers that are blooming in your garden are different than what was blooming a month or two ago. Debra shares some great ideas for decorating with late summer flowers (the hydrangeas are my favorites!) and has some links at the bottom of her post to some other gardeners who are also sharing late summer flower ideas.

One of my favorite spots to style and restyle and then style again is my mantel. I even did a whole makeover of my wall that my fireplace is on in my living room and installed a mantel so that I’d have a mantel to decorate. They’re so much fun to work with and I’m not even sure why.

That said, my friend Renae has done some amazing mantels and shared some of them on her blog. Like these ones…..I’m especially loving the magnolia wreath and all the candles. It’s so simple and effective.

I was at some meetings today and we had a potluck lunch. Someone had brought the most amazing Caprese Salad but I never got the chance to find out who and ask them if they had any special secrets. I know that the tiny balls of fresh mozzarella made it extra fun and I’m convinced it tastes different when you use those and freshly ripened cherry tomatoes. I resolved to look up recipes when I got home and I did. This one from Kelly looks so delicious and I love the option to just make it with olive oil, salt and pepper in the traditional way rather than with balsamic vinegar since not everyone is a fan of balsamic vinegar. I’m going to try this the moment I get enough ripe cherry tomatoes in my garden!

Pardon me while I go hunt for cherry tomatoes now…..
